New Facebook account: KaraJane Studento

To set up this account, I was asked to provide the following to sign up: Name, Email Address, Gender, and Birthdate. I thought it was interesting that when I first tried to use the last name 'Student' it told me I needed to do a facebook page instead of a profile. I changed it to 'Studento' and it worked for a profile. The next step was to import my email list to find friends, and then found friends through my college.

The providing of the things I 'like' and my school connected me with others that have the same interests and that I attend classes with. This is very helpful when you are trying to find answers to questions for school or need advice. Finding others that have the same interests as you is also fun and a way to find others with the same topic. At the same time though, it can be scary if the information falls into the wrong hands even if they are in your network since there are so many online predators out there. I am definitely more concerned about privacy than anything else, there is no reason that the entire world needs to have access to someone's private information and things that they do not want to share, no matter how far in technology we have come.
